Well considering that the speculation of Craig's return is still very prominent, and that they're allegedly already scouting locations, I'm sure it's more than enough news to keep momentum up for a couple of years.
Plus, they could be searching for the new Bond, have him locked him when Craig announces his departure and then wait a month or two before announcing whoever the new Bond is.

Yeah, MP, they haven't really done that before, but I feel like the movie climate is a bit different now. You've got MASSIVE actors in these silly comic book roles, so I think it's more likely for EON to pick an established star?
I'm not saying I'd prefer that necessarily, and I could be way off base, it's just a feeling I have. Not that it will happen, but that it seems more likely to me for some reason and what I said above is my best guess why i feel that way.

The reason why it should happen is because Michael Fassbender is perfect for it - no other known actor is. Cavill has the look but not the chops. Hardy has the chops but not look. Fassbender has the look, physique, skill, nationality and age that is very close to what Fleming wrote and that has been the basis of the first five other Bond actors. Unless an unknown is even more suitable and can act as well as Mr Fassbender, Michael should get it.

Fassbonder is the hero we need.

Seems as though Michael Fassbender isn't even a favourite, with many others listed ahead of him.

Going from muscle man Cregg to the weedy Hiddleston would be a bit of a stretch.

As far as I'm concerned, it's either Craig or Fassbender for Bond 25. No Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston or Idris Elba.

I'm sure he could 'bulk up' a bit. It's not necessary to go as far as Craig did/does.

I thought that's what Tom Hiddleston meant when he acknowledged how physically demanding the gig is.
That said, I don't really think it matters. We went from lean Lazenby to chubby Connery to pudgy Moore to lean Dalton and Brosnan, so I don't really think it would be an issue.

If anything, Hiddleston already got his start by narrating the Bond book "Octopussy and the Living Daylights". Would be unique. I don't think a Bond actor ever did a reading of a Bond novel.
I always thought it would be cool if there was an alternative universe where Jason Isaacs played Bond in the 90s. However, he went onto read "Thunderball", which I savor.

I'd certainly much prefer a Bond who uses his wits and cunning to one that just bulldozers his way out of trouble..... Craig's 'Bond Smash' is pretty much the antithesis of Bond to me. Although again I'd rather see someone up and coming rather than already a star...someone who can make come to life as Connery and Dalton did rather than the Moore/Brosnan/Craig route of contorting the role to fit the actor.

I like your term 'Bond Smash'. And I agree. But I have to admit, the actual bulldozer part in Madagascar I don't mind. It's the 'bulldozing the walls with my body' and the 'bulldoze the car with my plane even though I need to save the girl in the car' stuff I don't like.

Naomie Harris thinks Daniel Craig might change his mind about quitting Bond
So, does this mean he has? If so, would money be the thing that changes his mind?

An awful lot of speculation about Aidan Turner. He's the only person the papers claim has met with the producers. Who knows. He dominates next Bond threads and discussions lately.

Hopefully Aidan Turner rumors are just rumors. I watched Inglourious Basterds two days ago. Certain Fassbender facial expressions reminded me of Connery.

I'm thinking that since there is lots of talk of Elba, Hardy and Turner that they're just red herrings for another actor... Hopefully Fassbender...

I see a bit of Dalton in him, but I think he looks too squirrelly...
In other news, Sam Mendes weighs in on Craig's future as James Bond

While I did enjoy the new Poldark, I did feel Turner was a little too flat, not in the worse way (it may have been deliberate) but in contrast to Robin Ellis' Poldark there was an arc where you saw him mellow toward Demelzer and believed in his outrage at the moral duplicity of the age, turner seemed in the same demeanor throughout. He wouldn't be my first choice but I'd still rather give him a go than see another Craig vehicle.

I think he looks the part. Bit of Dalton, bit of Brosnan, even a little Connery in there somewhere. He's the right age, not too famous.
