| Just isn't the same I think without Daniel Craig saying: "Has that old cow...Fraulein...fancy meeting you here!?" |

| At least we were treated to DC's I'm-stating-the-fucking-obvious tone when he tells Swann that he's the only thing keeping her alive. |

Well, I *DID* predict SKYFALL would make over $300 million in the U.S. *BEFORE* it even opened here; a claim that only I can make, as I don't recall a single other person giving it that chance. Blind, stinking, doo-da luck? Perhaps. But I'm not getting the same vibe about SPECTRE. And I'm not always down about Craig. I loved SKYFALL, think he was excellent, and it's one of the most even-handed Bond films out there, even if it does pinch a lot from TWINE. I watched the trailer then watched it again about 5 minutes later because I could barely remember anything in it. Then I slept on it for 10 hours before watching it for a third time and posting my 'it's a thinly veiled OHMSS' remake comment because I wanted the trailer to settle in before I finally came here and gave my breathlessly awaited review. To be perfectly honest, the movie so far looks like a big, fat nothing-burger to me. I didn't hear one snappy, witty piece of dialogue in the trailer...not one sexy, single shot of a woman emerging from water in a swimsuit (or nothing else)....some of the action looks okay and if I can find anything positive to say, I would say that at least the action sequences look real and not cgi-fakery. But from what I can tell, Monica Bellucci is simply doing nothing for me....the film is trying too hard to be coy about who Waltz is portraying...the "daddy issues" sub-plot is, unfortunately, right there in the forefront of this movie; it has not been removed like many of us hoped. Lea Seydoux may be the only thing worth seeing in this film; she reminds me of a young Bridget Fonda or Gretchen Mol (not a bad thing). I just have a feeling this movie is going to be QOS 2.0; the reviews won't be as kind as Skyfall's were, and I think 2 or 3 years from now, when everyone is free to say what they really felt about the project in hindsight, many of the principal players will admit that perhaps they shouldn't have gone forward on this film without a better script nailed down. Like too many other films before it, SPECTRE was a release date in search of a movie script. If anything, they've simply stripped the element of fantasy too much out of the series. It may come back to hurt them at the box office. Right now I'm saying "Buy" SPECTRE, but cautiously. It'll do better globally, but I think in the U.S. receipts will dip noticeably from SF. My prediction this early out: SKYFALL$230 million in the U.S. $470 million globally $700 million in total. SONY will then want a complete reboot of the series; I hear Andrew Garfield is available. While I'm at it: SUPERBOWL 2016: Atlanta Falcons versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Mark my words. Also, Scott Walker over Hillary Clinton by a slim margin for the Presidency. There, I have spoketh sayeth the Lord. Let it come to pass. |

Sure it's not a naked or semi naked Lea, but her walk toward Bond on the train was pretty alluring. I'm in two minds: The big excitement for me on this one is that so many classic elements make a return. The downside is, of course, the 'daddy issues' sub plot which you highlighted. I can't for the life think why Bond can't go about his mission without the personal dramas. Is it that every agent at MI6 has these issues, and are somehow connected/related to the villain? If not, Bond should have been fired by now as his connections are a danger to England's security. That said, I just don't think they'd go down the route of Bond and villain (Blofeld or not) (as hinted by the trailer) were half siblings as it's what Austin Powers did - with Craig on record saying that it fucked them. I also think that it will reach $1bil at the global box office. From the comments I've read on youtube, imdb, forums and in person, 99% of people seem pretty pumped. It also has SF to back it, so it'll only be word of mouth now that will determine if it becomes the highest grossing Bond film or not. |

| Bond being chastised by a male 'M' for the first time since Licence To Kill.
Strong Live And Let Die vibe from the Day Of The Dead scenes.
Craig's first proper 'This is your new car, 007' 'Q' scenes (and this trailer now seems to clarify that it does indeed have flame-throwers equipped).
Bond in a white tuxedo for the first time since the Moore era.
Oberhauser/Blofeld in what appears to be a Nehru jacket.
Hell, I'm happy. |

| Looks like SF meets QOS via (unfortunately) DAD. Craig's snow get-up even outnaffs the Brozzer turtleneck. Looks like a decent film, but I just fear a hint of tiredness creeping in, tonally, characterwise and storywise.
And surely Belucci will be more than just Berenice recycled?

| After 23 films, you can pretty much say any Bond film is "X meets Y via Z." Anyways ... |

Hell, I'm happy. Bond and Madeline rehashing the same train sequence dialogue that Bond and Vesper engaged in just 3 films ago; only exception is that they are sitting on different sides of the table this go round. Bond chastised by M? Wow, how refreshingly new. Bond going rogue? Haven't seen that happen since QOS. Spray painting Bond's name on a wall? Somebody's been watching THE DARK KNIGHT or reading Batman comic books one too many times. Monica Bellucci is simply too old for this film. Sorry, but have to say it. There's no fantasy aspect to these women. Where's Xenia? Pussy? Goodhead? Not a drop-dead beauty to be found in this movie. |

| For the most part it has me excited, the OHMSS theme gave me goosebumps hopefully it arrives in film also and sets a precedent for the future.
The apparent emphasis on Bond's past and the 'the whole universe revolves around Bond' is the element that gives me most concern.......tbh I find it a real problem in many films now - the conceit that one character is the centre of everything. But it will be down to the execution and balance, Skyfall had all the themes that made me dislike Casino Royale and Quantum but nevertheless I loved it. Mendes seems to be able to juggle far better than Campbell or Forster and also seems to be able to dilute the 'Babs' effect to a more palatable degree........ at least that is what I am counting on. |

Fine, don't fucking well go to see it then. As Wade put it, after 23 films resemblance to others in the series is pretty much inevitable. |

Fine, don't fucking well go to see it then. Or just ignore all the hype and bullshit and wait until you can see it in the cinema. That's what I did with Skyfall and the result seems to be that I enjoyed it a lot more than most here. |

Not even a single trailer. My remarkable self-control leaves me with more time to watch videos about how Mossad is bankrolling Islamic State. If it wasn't for the clever people at CIF I'd never have realised. |

My prediction which I can be held to I'm looking at a minimum $270m USA. This will represent about 29% of the world box office. $850m-$900m is not unreasonable. And Craig ain't leaving.... |
