| Ethnicity-wise, this actor would be better off playing somebody named Kahn or Cahn instead of Khan.
Not quite on the level of hiring a short ugly guy to play the dashing and handsome hero who has been on screens for about half-a-century, but could be in the top 5 casting miscues.
I think Nimoy only keeps doing these things to rile up Shatner.
Do we assume that Uhura takes on Madlyn Rhue's role? |

| The only thing I see being buried alive is creativity (assuming these folks ever had any to start with.)
My ONLY worry about PROMETHEUS is that one of these Abrams guys did the draft they shot. |

| Damon Lindelof right? I kinda hope he has more of an influence in this Trek because at least with him the script should be more competent. But who knows, maybe he only did the story and the two bozos ran with it. |

| Well, they've been confirmed:
http://trekmovie.com/2012/04/30/major-star-trek-sequel-spoilers-confirmed/
It's really stupid how stuff like that info is now considered "spoiler" material. Abrams and his pointless "mystery box" approach. Did knowing Cumberbatch would be Khan really ruin the whole flick? It's absurd. |

It already has for me. Waiting for TREK II 2 is like sitting on death row. You know what's coming, you'll go in there, and you won't like it. Granted, I would do a Khan flick if told to make a Trek movie in the Dumbass Abrams Mode, but with Cumberpatch as Khan!? It's like getting Topher Grace to play Franz Sanchez. If it were someone like Javier Bardem... Or Benicio. I could at least see Benicio. |

| His audition better have been THAT good, because he's such an odd choice. Agreed about Bardem and Benico, at least they have some menace. I only saw Cumberbatch in WAR HORSE. |

| If Johnny Depp were playing Khan we could just call it what it will do: BLOW.
I have an idea about the next movie's title: STAR TREK III THE SEARCH FOR A COMPETENT DIRECTOR |

| The word is that JJ Abrams has gone the Khan route more or less because of the Dark Knight. His theory is that if people could accept another version of the Joker or Heath Ledger as the Joker they can Khan.
Yes, but I didn't go into the Dark Knight expecting anything relating to Cesar Romero's Joker.

| But Legder's Joker, while hardly definitive, was a valid spin on the character.
How the frak is Cumberpatch gonna do Khan? |

| Cumberbatch will give his all, maybe ham it up but it's going to be a mess. Montalban's Latino character helped Khan or at least in his accent. That's what I think of Khan. I don't see a Shakesperian British actor as Khan. Who next, Dominic West as...Harry Mudd? Toby Stephens as General Chang...Maggie Smith as Pulaski.
Wonder if we'll get a bit set during Khan's escape from Earth providing Abrams has done research like Harve Bennett prior to getting involved in 1981/2.

| Part of what made Ricardo Montalban such a great Khan was that he was so larger-than-life. Like Shatner. It was a great match.
Pine and Cumberpatch? nuKirk has met his match. A metrosexual Brit. |

Pine and Cumberpatch? nuKirk has met his match. A metrosexual Brit. The Shatner/Montalban combo was none greater than the scenes they were in together in Space Seed, chiefly the dinner table scene. Why I think Khan was a good TOS villain not just for the movies. Of all Kirk's bad guys he was one that you feel (genetic engineering aside) had the edge or a match for Kirk. But yes...Twilight-Saga-Kirk has...yes, well. |

| In a lot of ways I prefer "Space Seed" to TWOK. I like how Khan is handled. I like how he controls people, like McGivers.
I'm betting the writers of Trek II 2 spent a lot more time thinking of TWOK than SS. |

I'm betting the writers of Trek II 2 spent a lot more time thinking of TWOK than SS. Without a shadow of a doubt it'll be TWOK and even then kind of like how "Free Enterprise" thinks of it. Thing about Space Seed, the one and only time a ships historian is seen/mentioned... And having given IV's expanded score a rebash...the new film should have "I Hate You" over every scene. Better yet, Khan/Carn rocks up to it. |
