Anyway, added a poll. I voted 'okay'
Best moment was the Mr. White bit...I was wondering if he's blind? Someone else thought that as well… But why would he be? Last time we saw him, he was enjoying Tosca. And it seems he is looking at the SPECTRE ring (though we don't see his face, he picks it up, and doesn't appear to be feeling for it). |

If you were sitting on a chair that could be used to electrocute you or was packed with C-4 explosives you'd be sitting stiff as well. |

That would be awesome… Not sure what the Mr White connection is, but it would be great if he is the first SPECTRE agent to succumb to their 'failure' policy. |

| Would revise my vote to 'good' if I could...considering I keep having a look throughout the day Thinking it will be awesome when some scenes with Lea, Batista and some action snippets are tossed in. |

| Looking again, I think this trailer spoils too much, even with simple visual clues like the burnt portion of the photograph and the underexposed portion of Waltz's face in the conference room. Obviously, they're the same people. The signature on the custody form and Mendes revealing that Waltz plays Franz Oberhauser also gives away the detail that Bond grew up or was previously associated with the villain in the film as a child.
Without knowing any details, as of now, that seems pretty stupid to me. The fact that Bond's foster sibling ends up becoming his nemesis takes the back-story too far. It's as if they admired what Fleming wrote about Bond's past, but decided they needed to piss on it to water it down for the drooling teenagers who expect this to be similar to Zak Snyder's MAN OF STEEL, in terms of story and quality. It's to the point of being absolutely ridiculous, just about on the same level as Connery's transformation in YOLT or Brosnan driving around in a fucking invisible Aston Martin.
I may be totally jumping the gun here, but if this is the case, then this is very, very disappointing. |

| That'd be more interesting, and not unlike Blofeld to assume another identity. |

That would be much better and not OTT…. I'm hoping this is the case, especially considering what Austin Powers did in Goldmember. |

| I think that there needs to be more than just "SPECTRE try to recruit Bond". Especially since Vesper committed suicide to make sure Quantum could never get their hooks into him, and Bond's association with Oberhauser is a secret. I'm guessing that whatever happens in the PTS is one part of a larger whole - possibly SPECTRE preparing to emerge into the open and let the world know their name.
Anyway, rewatching the trailer several times over, I love the distinct visual style of each location. One of my favourite shots in SF was of Bond running across the frozen, smoky moors, with the fire at Skyfall the only source of light. It looked like a scene out of hell and was very evocative. So I was a little concerned when Deakins left, even when they got van Hoytema in, but the trailer assuaged that doubt. |

I really hope so, because if not, and the film really has Blofeld as Bond's long lost brother, Empire Strikes Back-style, then all of GS's fears around this film from the leaked script he has read are entirely justified. This doesn't just rewrite the entire back-story that Fleming created for Bond, it p!sses all over it from a great height, and will stray the series back into Austin Powers territory like never before. It also raises the question - what the hell are Mendes, Logan, Babs, Danny and co. playing at by dreaming up this kind of garbage? I was slightly uncomfortable with the last film straying into Bond's past, but I thought it would end there. I don't like the idea that they are pushing the family childhood boundaries even further this time round. Like someone mentioned earlier on this thread, when Moneypenny tells Bond `You've got a secret', that was enough to make my heart sink too. |

Like someone mentioned earlier on this thread, when Moneypenny tells Bond `You've got a secret', that was enough to make my heart sink too. Indeed I am of a similar mindset, I really don't buy the contrivance or coincidence of Bond/Blofeld as brothers it will really undermine my ability to accept the film as a whole regardless of the rest...so I do hope for something smarter in the actual execution. There is a precedent for this hope as imo Skyfall covered very similar ground to the preceding 4 films, but did so with enough of its own identity/flavour to finally make them work (at least for me) Mendes is treading dangerous ground but he might just be the fellow to pull it off. Overall I went with Ok on the poll....the teaser didn't really change anything for me - either to make me dread it more nor to be any more excited for the release. |

I'm guessing there will a be a twist, because otherwise, the entire franchise will be ruined by this notion that Blofeld and Bond are related. How can one watch FRWL, TB, YOLT, OHMSS and DAF again in the same light after knowing this? There's one thing rebooting the franchise, but its another to start messing with its legacy in this way. |

| Just because Austin Powers used the idea (actually, it's a send up of Star Wars) doesn't make the idea bad or invalid. It's the execution of it that will determine that.
Or, any parody movie would kill all available plots for franchise series and there will be no more story to tell because there are only about 10 different plots anyway.
I'm confident Mendes and the team will pull it off. |

I'm confident Mendes and the team will pull it off. It is a bad idea, and it is invalid, even if the execution is ok. There are certain aspects to the character you don't start messing with, and Bond being related to Blofeld has nothing to do with Fleming. Creating a family home called Skyfall is one thing. Suddenly having Bond being related to the man who heads up SPECTRE, the man who murders Bond's wife, is another. If you are not a fan of the novels, then you may think this idea ok. |

| The paper in the trailer only lists Hannes Oberhauser as a "temporary legal guardian" of Bond. It doesn't automatically make him an adoptive relative of Bond. It's the sort of appointment that would have come about if Bond's full-time guardian - his aunt - was unable to fulfil her duties. For example, if Bond needed a custodian for a few weeks after his parents' death while his aunt was out of the country.
If Bond had known Franz Oberhauser previously, then I suspect that the big thematic concern of the film will be Bond addressing the idea that someone he knows turned out to be a villain. Until now, the line between good and bad has always been clear - even Silva, who turned evil, went through a process of metamorphosis to get there - but a previous relationship to a villain makes that hazy.
And I have always been curious to see how Bond would interact with a villain that in any other circumstances, he could be friends with. It's a bit Hank Scorpio, but it would be interesting. |

| I think it's pretty clear that the Daniel Craig Bond universe is very much its own thing, and any background given to SPECTRE here is not meant to apply to the SPECTREs of past Bond adventures. For those who are curious what the "real deal" is with Oberhauser in Spectre, this is what it comes down to: - Spoiler:
Hans Oberhauser had a son, Franz, but this son came through adoption rather than blood. Ernst Stavro Blofeld was the son of Romanian diplomats who were tortured to death, and the Oberhausers sheltered him after he was smuggled out of Romania and gave him the name Franz to protect his identity.

| - Spoiler:
Thinking about it, I kind of understand why they might consider making this a more personal thing. What makes SPECTRE stand out so much is that it did get personal for Bond, especially with what happened with Tracy. EON is never going to play that same story again, so they're going to approach it from another angle and have SPECTRE be a personal thing for Bond from the get go. This is a crucial part of the Bond canon, and they don't want to just waste them by being a mere organization that Bond foils without any personal stakes involved. That all said, it makes me feel a little more easy about it. As I mentioned before, there were a lot of things about SF that really sounded the alarms for me, but I ended up rolling with them because Mendes and co did a better job with it than I expected. I'll just have to believe they'll handle SPECTRE just as delicate.
