The Duke has a much better sense of humour than DC.

He has a much better face as well, if the SkyFall shots are anything to go by. Though those eyebrows need to meet with some scissors sharpish.

And The Duke would have doubtless approved of Rog's epic curry line in Octopussy. We'll never hear it's like again in these dour times.

Think it's been customary for the last 2 pics, though Eva Green could've been No. 2 in CR.

In the latest issue of TOTAL FILM, Bernice Merlot is asked whether she's been filming in any other countries. She said Pinewood (meaning the U.K.) and Turkey. I suspect she meant she was going to be filming in Turkey and that she hadn't actually been there yet, or that the editors watered down her answer. Either way it looks as if Severin could be part of the pre-title sequence.

And though I think Merlot is the more beautiful with or without makeup, I will say that Harris looks really good for Total Film's photo shoot. If she was the lead Bond Girl I wouldn't have a problem with that.

Bardem: It’s been a very beautiful and fun adventure. One has to enjoy it, one does it because of that. It’s many things. First it’s a James Bond film. I am 43 years old and since I was very little I remember watching Dr. No, and Moonraker with my parents. I watching Jaws bite the cable of the cable car.
Then it’s a picture that celebrates 50 years of James Bond, it’s directed by Sam Mendes, yesterday I was on set with Albert Finney, with Judi Dench, with Daniel Craig.
Journalist: I’m envying you more and more.
Bardem: It’s cool, and the coolest thing and what’s most important is the material. When I got it and saw the character. Immediately you forget a little that it is a James Bond film and you realize that it is a great film and that’s what attracted me. I said man this gives you a lot of possibilities. Obviously it’s a James Bond film and it has everything you expect from a Bond film.
Journalist: Martinis, women, Aston Martin?
Bardem: (nodding his head agreeing) Obviously. But besides that there is a super-powerful story and a character with meat to put your teeth in and enjoy doing.
Journalist: I imagine that evidently very little can be said about this Silva. All we have seen is a photo where you are blond. What is this coincidence of strange hair styles and characters in the limit. Is this a strategy used by directors or a coincidence?
Bardem: No, it’s because I’m so good that they have to give me these hair styles to remind me that I’m bad. No, what happens is that I can’t tell much about it but it has to do with the character . I don’t know, there is also something that Sam, the director, told me a short while and he was right: James Bond films are midway between reality and fiction. Therefore is a very good and very fertile terrain to play the characters with a certain freedom. It has to do with a real situation and there has got to be seriousness playing it but it’s more open, it gives you more air so that you can work and imagine more. And that is very fun because you’re not doing absolute fiction, it’s not a superhero picture, but it’s not a completely down-to-earth film. It’s something in the middle that’s very good and very fun for an actor.
Journalist: Well, we’ve talked about Jaws, and others that gave Bond a hard time. I’m sure that Silva will do that too.
Bardem: That has been my decision, I've completely decided to give him a hard time and the truth is that I get to do it. On script, doing it in the set is a different thing. The character puts Bond into some curious and interesting difficulties and one has to do it, and give the ideal that you are the villain. Otherwise there is no point in doing it. You have to put the actor in a difficult situation, that’s the objective. In that sense Sam is helping a lot, he’s an amazing director. And I’m delighted to be working with Daniel, he’s a guy with balls, he’s a really hard working guy, super-composed with what he’s doing. For him it’s a strenuous, six months of shooting everyday, in addition to a lot of physical demand and the guy holds on super-compromised. He’s an actor who is doing some amazing scenes. As an actor I look at that and I say great, and like it. And then he’s very much a clown, which I love, the moment they say cut. And he’s a guy who brings a lot of humour and a lot of lightness to the thing because obviously these are very long days and and for him it must be, it is difficult. So it’s an amazing experience!
