| Just chiming in on the Avengers.
This IMHO of course is the best comic-book superhero film I have seen. Bravo, Joss Whedon. This is exactly what I want to see from the Avengers. A straightforward fantasy adventure film minus excessive character drama. All the heroes were deftly re-introduced. Their personalities established and then off to work. Ironman has never been better, as this time around we saw a lot of what Ironman could do, compared to the first two Ironman films, which were more about Downey Jr being Tony Stark, not to mention Pepper Potts overkill. She barely figured in the Avengers. Capt America upped his game dramatically from his origins film. Thor was awesome solid and Hulk has never been better. Whedon even managed to make Black Widow and new-guy Hawkeye interesting and exciting. Mark Ruffalo is a big improvement on the previous two Hulks as well.
I was thoroughly entertained, way more-so, than in any of the 6 films about the these characters, that preceded.
This movie deserves every penny of box-office its getting. If only Bond could get back to this level of escapist entertainment.
Whedon is the perfect guy to direct such a film. His patented brand of quirky snappy humour was a nice added touch. The Buffy influence was apparent.
If SF turns out to be yet another tiresome nu-Bond character drama, Whedon's Avengers will more than make-up for it.
Thank-you Joss Whedon! You are awesome! The Avengers is your cinema masterpiece. Please get to work on the next one. Actually would you like to do a Bond film? Please. No? The current dour-puss actor is a drag? OK, well when he goes away then? Great! See you for Bond 27 I guess! |

| I think Sharky would sooner an Edgar Wright directed Bond than a Joss Whedon one. |

Excuse my blubbering. I'm easy to please. Your cinema tastes are far, how shall I say, far more erudite than mine. No sarcasm btw.I'm giving respect. |

| Went to it again today with my dad. He was a big Marvelite as a kid. He enjoyed it. He agreed with me that it was the best Hulk has been on the big screen. |

| Should I see 3D or 2D?
Funny enough, 2D is at 330 and 3D is 230. |

| Save your money and stick with 2D. It wasn't shot in 3D as far as I'm aware, I rather watch real 3D films instead of post-convert work. |

That's what I thought. I may see SPIDER-MAN just to see a real 3D movie. |

| Finally got around seeing the movie. It was pretty good but definitely overrated. The story was mediocre, but the acting was quite solid all round - even Scarlett was better in this than Iron Man 2. They could have focused on Captain America's 'lost in the modern world' a bit more TBH; he seems to accept it too easily. Music wasn't bad as well, but it just wasn't great. Some of the special effects were a bit dodgy in parts too.
7.5/10
Ruffalo's Hulk is better than Norton's.
And the story didn't seem to go anywhere. We know all that we need to know (or care to know) at the start, and that's that: cue CGI infested action. |
