Food, Drink and What's for Dinner Tonight

Bucatini al'Amatriciana. Bucatini (thick spaghetti with a tunnel pierced through each strand) with a sauce of tomatoes, white wine, bacon, garlic and dried Calabrian pepper. One of my very favorite pasta dishes.

Trinidadian beef stew with coconut dumplings. Nicely seasoned with Scotch bonnet, red bell and Hatch peppers.

Baltimore pit beef sandwiches. You apply copious amounds of salt, pepper, garlic and hot paprika to a roast and grill over an open flame. Once done, you slice the roast as thinly as possible and serve on a kaiser roll with horseradish and a slice of sweet onion.

Roasted potato wedges to accompany.

Greek hash. Basically a casserole comprised of cavatelli, ground beef, tomato, feta and spinach, and seasoned with oregano and cinnamon. Dolmadi (stuffed grape leaves) to accompany.

If there's anything to get Sarai scampering back to the forum, it's Greek hash. Arf.

Thought it's the Jamaican kind she likes...

Tortellini in brodo tonight. A simple EyeTALyun soup of tortellini in a broth seasoned with nutmeg, Italian Parsley, pepper and a dash of olive oil. I'll try not to make a hash of it...

Cheese kreplach, which is a dumpling similar to ravioli, filled with a cottage cheese filling, then either boiled or fried and topped with melted butter and served with your favorite jams. It is said that wizened bubbies make the best, but this goyim will give it his best shot.

Carribean grilled steak tonight. What makes it Caribbean is the spice paste--similar to jerk--you apply to the steak before cooking.

The Khantessa will be makinga side dish of rice with coconut and collard greens.

A huge chef salad comprised of iceberg lettuce, diced ham, bacon bits, grated cheddar, carrots, radishes, croutons and chow mein noodles, topped with ranch dressing.

The Khantessa will make a ravioli, cabbage and bacon soup.

Seasoned pork chops baked with rice and cream o' mushroom soup. Mid-century Americana food.

Also, French cut green beans.

Paneer kolhapuri--a spicy curry made with Indian cheese--and banana pakoras (basically pieces of banana coated in chickpea batter and fried) tonight.

I hope this is the correct thread, by gawd!

Toasted pita wedges topped with sauteed spinach, feta cheese, and kalamata olives. Roasted scallions and carrots on the side.

Chicken-and-rice soup, French bread and butter.

Chinese garlic-and-chili noodles tonight. Probably pick up some Chinese spare ribs from a local joint to go along with the noodles. Hot tea as the beverage. Gotta have tea with Chinese food. Anything else is barbarous.

This barbarian likes wine with his, as a takeaway from my preferred local spot tends to be a weekend thing.

I can only apologise.

I prefer Thai to Chinese, and I usually have ginger ale with it.

Tonight it's a fondue made with white cheddar, gruyere, Hoegarden beer and green peppercorns. Italian bread cubes for dunking, and a green salad to accompany. Just as afternoon tea is Great Britain's one contribution to civilization, so fondue is Switzerland's.

A Canadian dish tonight. Huzzah! Bacon-wrapped salmon glazed with a whisky-and-maple syrup sauce. Garlic bread and a nice salad to go along with it.

Grilled New York strip topped with roasted orange bell pepper-and-habanero puree. Roasted red potatoes to accompany.
