I think $300 million might be slightly out of reach for this film. $250 is probably the target range at this point in the United States. |

| Viewed SF for a second time last night. An 8:30 showing. The theater was not packed, but it was probably 3/4 full. The film has legs. It knows how to use them. |

| Nikki's guesstimate over at Deadline Hollywod has SKYFALL at slightly under $50 million for the holiday weekend, putting it at a $220 million total.

The 5-day projection looks very good. Surprisingly good. The weekend after Thanksgiving week(end) here in the U.S. is traditionally a huge dud. A major drop-off occurs, so I'd expect grosses to start falling precipitously starting November 30th - December 2nd, then rebound a little bit heading through the last weeks of December and into Christmas/New Years holidays. I don't know, maybe $300 million isn't such a stretch after all. USA box office as of Wednesday, November 21st: 178 million...........and counting. |

| It's got legs for sure, look forward to how it does well in the weekend. Should definitely break the 200 million barrier by then.
Also, why is this thread retitled WINDFALL? |

It's a play on words. A windfall is a sudden or unexpected gain—often financial. EON Productions is experiencing a great windfall now due to Skyfall's box office performance. |

I edited the subject header about two weeks ago. I can change it back if the original poster wants it changed back. "Windfall" just seemed the more appropriate term; Skyfall in the subject header was redundant. Plus I saw another poster over at Deadline.com use it in the talk-back section and I stole the term and appropriated it as my own idea, hoping that people would think I was more clever than I really was. In the United States we have what we call "windfall profits tax", etc....basically a windfall is an enormous amount of money that comes to a person. The Democrats are very fond of using the term "windfall profits", especially in relation to "Big Oil" companies; they're always looking to tax companies that they feel make too much money. Incidentally, Skyfall looks to be a lock for $250 million in the U.S. Beyond that is sort of a gray area. It's conceivable the film could hit $300 million, but it'll need some Oscar buzz, maybe some Golden Globe nominations, and a marketing campaign that takes advantage of any nominations. |

| Latest numbers for Friday:
2. Skyfall (Eon/MGM/Sony) Week 2 [Runs 3,526] PG13 Wednesday $7.4M, Thursday $7.7M, Friday $15.6M (+101%) 3-Day Weekend $37.4M, 5-Day Holiday $52.5M, Cume $223.0M
What's interesting is that, apparently, the film hasn't opened yet in Australia or Japan, and I don't know the release date of China yet. One wonders the impact China might have on the overall box office. Would be interesting to see if Skyfall can top Ghost Protocols numbers. |

MI4 opened early in China, but Skyfall might be delayed until February 2013....gives piracy a chance to creep in and erode that. Friday's figure for Skyfall beat last week's figure...amazing! That will take it past 200m in the USA.... |

That happened much earlier this week but foreign figures haven't been updated since Nov 18. It's still going strong in Germany, with an expected 500,000 admissions this weekend. Also add in Australia, NZ and I think South Africa. It will be well over $750m by tomorrow evening. |

| Skyfall now enters the Top 10 USA movies of the year at #10. It could make the top 5 or 6 by year end, which will look something like this...
1. Marvel's The Avengers $623,357,910 2. The Dark Knight Rises $447,937,000 3. The Hunger Games $408,010,692 4. Twilight: Breaking Dawn 2 $290m estimated 5. Either Skyfall or The Hobbit, if either passes $262,030,663 currently held by Spidey. |

| Deadline Hollywood's weekend estimates are in...
2. Skyfall (Eon/MGM/Sony) Week 3 [Runs 3,526] PG13 Wednesday $7.4M, Thursday $7.7M, Friday $14.7M, Saturday $13.4M (-9%) 3-Day Weekend $36.0M, 5-Day Holiday $51.1M, Cume $221.7M
WORLDWIDE: 790 MILLION
If post Thanksgiving trends hold up, expect steep weekday drops across the board in the region of 70%...meaning Monday's figure will be around 2m....
Going well north of $200m is an accomplishment by itself for 007...is anyone else hoping SONY/EON relaxes the budget grips for the next movie? They can certainly afford to...

A little more on-location shooting would be nice for the next film. I think if Bond goes to Shanghai or Macau then Daniel Craig and the first unit should go to Shanghai or Macau and not hide behind a green screen. Incidentally, it'll be interesting to see what amount, if any, China can contribute to the overall total. Without China, Skyfall probably hits $850 million anyway. With China, it's *possible* that the film could get to $950 million, but that's based simply upon knowing what Ghost Protocol did over there. Not sure what kind of fanbase Bond has in China, or even what the previous films have been able to score over there. In fact, SKYFALL has broken the mold anyway, so past behavior may not be an indicator of future behavior because this film has been over-performing since it shot out of the gate. Just looked at China's numbers for Quantum of Solace; earned $21 million over there. Assuming that Skyfall arrives hot in the country, it may be a bit of an uphill struggle to get $100 million out of China.....30-40 million may be more realistic. |

Ignore the past numbers, there was a cinema boom in China over the past 4 years, which is why trash like MIB 3 earned $75m in China. It's only recently that China's potential box-office clout has everyone taking notice as a potential #2 or #3 biggest earner in the world after the USA. China was MI4's second highest earner, whereas Skyfall's will be the UK...projected at over $150m. China could be third or fourth, as Germany has a very strong showing and is still counting... The guys at BOMojo are now predicting a $270m haul for Skyfall in the USA....sounds feasible...QoS atrophied quickly after Thanksgiving and only earned about $30 more...Skyfall should almost double that. |

You read that right. SKYFALL has passed GOLDFINGER overseas.
SKYFALL is tracking similarly to CASINO ROYALE's second weekend. If that holds, there still is an outside chance for $300 million. $850 worldwide is now a lock. |

| Not so far away from a billion... all it takes is another $60-70 million from North America and another $150 million from the rest of the world (that is, including China and Japan). Looks very feasible! And it's just mind-boggling that Skyfall is on pace to finish in the top-10 overseas earners of all-time. It's already at #23.

Skyfall the new #1 2012 movie in the Dutch Boxoffice. Those numbers are based on 3 weeks of results, with the first 2 weeks a theater count of 211 (99 more then Die Another Day who starts off with 112 theater counts in 2003.) and in the third week the movie get a theater count of 209. The movie starts off with amazing $4,469,076. After 2 weeks the movie deliever $9,218,580.This is amazing, those numbers are close to Harry Potter Boxoffice numbers. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 delieverd a totaly of almoost 13 million and Skyfall is stil running. As i discoverd my self visiting the movie in some cinema's the movies be soltout in the earlier late screenings and with late screenings almoost full and this after 23 days. Some simalar we see happen with Die Another Day. Taken 2 & Premium Rush released on 22 November and we can expext Cloud Atlas on 29 November. In December we can also expect the wolwide release of the first of the three Hobbit movies of course who possible going to make big changes. From Cloud Atlast and The Hobbit i have seen previews with my viewing of Skyfall last Thursday and i realy think those movies going to score. |

| Heard Skyfall will be released in China on January 10 (from a Chinese source who's into this type of shit)...final market, but potentially one of the Top 5 Box Office draws in the world.
The $1billion Bond talk is also rearing its head again, with people insisting it will happen if China pumps at least $50m into 007.
I can see it going over 900m so this will be interesting to watch.... |

| Might be interesting to see who comes out on top between Breaking Dawn and Skyfall this weekend at the US box office, as the projections have a tiny gap between them (less than 1/2m). Either way, Skyfall should be at around $245m in the USA by Sunday afternoon when estimates are released. |

Went over the $800 million mark yesterday. It's projected to come close to $250 million in the U.S. by the end of Sunday. If it does pull in $18-20 million this weekend, I think that it still has a credible chance of hitting $300 million in the U.S. It would only need to do $50 million more over the course of the next 35 days (or so), which include two holiday time frames. . That's doable. With just a slightly altered, but new, marketing push over the last week or so of December, the film could get to $300 million or more. I'd be interested in seeing whether SONY takes a shot at a new marketing push since they're *this* close, or if they choose to let it go. |
